Hi, I’m Tasha, and I’m completely, unapologetically obsessed with sea glass.
It started at a craft market. I spotted a display of sea glass jewellery and something about those frosted, sea-worn colours just stopped me in my tracks. I had to know where they came from, how you found them, and whether I could find them myself.
So I went to a beach. And I never really came back.
There is nothing quite like spending a day by the sea with your eyes down, hunting for treasure in the pebbles. It does something good for your soul: the rhythm of the waves, the cold air, the quiet focus of the search. The rest of the world disappears. And then you find a piece of cobalt blue or a perfectly frosted red, and your whole day is made.
My Jack Russell Trigger comes on every hunt. He’s got his own system; I’m not entirely sure what he’s looking for, but he’s very committed to it.
Sea Glass Hunting started because I wanted a place to share everything I’ve learned, the best beaches, the right tides, what the colours mean, and how to read a beach. The kind of information I wished I’d had when I started.
The Sea Glass Score is my favourite part of the site, a tool that tells you whether conditions are actually worth making the trip before you leave the house. Because a day hunting at an 85 is a very different day from a 40.
If you find something beautiful and want to wear it, head over to Mermaid Tears, where I turn hand-hunted sea glass into handmade jewellery. Every piece starts on a beach, just like yours.
Now go check the score and get yourself to a beach.
